Polish Film Posters

I love Polish film posters. Talk about interpretation. Because of censorship, they were commonly used as vehicles for political statements ... the result being layer upon layer of meaning.

Conceptual art with dark undertones.

The venue matched the tones of the art/posters. And the staff, 2 knowledgeable volunteers from the Polish Heritage Society, well, sealed the deal for me. They spoke in Polish to each other while eating, but checked in on us frequently. Both reminded me of my granny. Wish my photo skills were as rad as the work!

E.A.S.T. 2010

Yeah boooeeeyyy! My most favoritist thing in Austin is the E.A.S.T. Austin Art Tour. I plan and hype myself up for it every year. THE best chance to see loads of rad art, all on the east side. This year, while not quite as mind blowing as last year, was still gangbusters amazing and a complete art overload. Check out a sampling of the goods: I love John Mulvany's work. It is so gorgeous and heavy with impact. Takes my breath away.
This is the piece I wanted more than any piece at EAST. But alas, I couldn't afford. It is me on so many levels. I love Adreon Henry's work and own smaller pieces from him, but nothing like this. Someday you will be mine JR. Ridiculously cool metal work. Rocked! I don't remember who what where when or why this photo is from. A backyard with lots of Mexican wrestler themed goodies. I walked away with a rad Mexican wrestler pillow. This screen was on the wall of Bearded Lady. There's a great story that goes with it, but I can't remember! Talk about amazing talent. Rob Rough takes the notion of bleach and denim to a whole new level. Yes that's right, his art is made with bleach ... ridiculous right!? You can't deny the power of glitter. No one rocks it better than Sue Zola. This piece (check out the detail) and the two pictures that follow were at Flatbed Press. What to say, except astounding. These two wood cut pieces gave me chills, literally. They were so amazing. Terribly moving with impact. Really. Lastly, this is the piece of art I bought, by Jeffrey Swanson. Oddly enough, I bought a piece from him last year too. Explosive mixed media. Can't wait to do it all over again next year.

Diary of some clueless ladies

Since y'all keep buying our art, we thought we might take a chance and be in the East Austin Tour. With a little help from our friend j.haley, we got hooked up with Starving Art Studio off of East Cesar Chavez. So yep, we're in the tour..... and we are hyped!

Our two OCD selves are all about the presentation, so we got to some painting.
Of course we can't do anything simple, because our minds be playing tricks on us.

We were a little worried, but it actually started to look good. We gotta thank Nelly (who tried to avoid the camera) for a lot. Especially her knot tying & beer buying skills.

We even have security!

You've got two weekends to check out the goods. Either November 13th and 14th or November 20th and 21st. There's no better time than E.A.S.T. to see art in Austin.

We had a client with a challenge. She had this amazing print that had cool art on both sides and she wanted an easy option to switch it out. With a super cool plexi frame anything is possible!

It's Been A Minute ...

We know we know! Took us a bit to recover from the Barbarella job. But now we're back ta' blogging with lots of new art pics to show. A couple more pieces completed and we hope to be on our way to our first art show. Oh la la. Sounds so artsy.
