Art Show at Black Star Co-op

For the next month we will have all kinds of art up at Black Star Co-op. A mix of old and new pieces to check out while you drink rad craft beer and eat rad food.

"Thought Bubbles" - think American Horror Story.

This is a piece we decided to reworked and have the most ridiculous crush on. It's huge and rocks when you see it in person. "Barbarella Gets a Facelift."

 A section of "Double Life." She plays housewife by day and then kicks it with her homies at night.

 "1969" - original Chinese propaganda poster from 1969 cut up and redefined.

 "Joan" caught up in all kinds of light confusion. Since all of our pieces are captured within plexiglas it makes it tricky to get pictures because of the reflections. Check them out in person to get the real vision.

EAST Austin Studio Tour 2014

It's time for the yearly massive overload of art. EAST!!! This studio tour is the best time to see tons of Austin artists and have a great time. Our show, "Degenerate," will consist of almost all new pieces that we are super pumped to show - a definite evolution has happened with our work in the last year. We will be showing with 4 other rad artists. Swing by for a hang and a look at lots of art. Let's talk art and drink a beer.

DUE EAST Group Exhibition

It's so close to EAST 2014 - I can not wait!! It's a win win - I get to show lots of pieces of art and I get to see lots of art. This is our submission piece for the group exhibition and kick off party, DUE EAST. 

 

 "Eyed" is the name of this bad boy, and the longer your stare, the creepier it gets.

A recent commission piece turned out so rad. Love it so much, one of the biggest pieces we've made. Had a hard time getting a picture without reflections. "The Seventh Motel."

Big Medium's WEST 2014 is Here!!

Two weekends of the Westside's best art. We will be one of the many stops --- so hit us up (location information below). We'll be blowing out lots of pieces -- here's a couple of new ones.

"Handjob" - "She's Handy" - "Multi-tasking" This piece has so many titles - we just can't decide.

And it's stacked on 3 colors of plexi - art from all angles.

 "1962 Black Velvet" Sleek black plexi on black frame -- our take on the black velvet paintings - collage style.

Yellow ... It's the New Everything

Without even realizing it, I have become addicted to yellow, and in particular, this color of yellow plexiglas. Every piece of art made, my immediate gut reaction,  "Let's assemble it on yellow." 

 

 And then the ultimate happened -- someone ordered a plaque -- on opaque YELLOW plexiglas.

It looks unbelievable -- and their house, will be noticed. In love.

WEST 2014 Group Show

April 12th is the big DUE WEST 2014 Group Show - The kickoff for the WEST Austin Studio Tour that happens in May. Well over 100 artists will have art on display (and to buy). 

"Hooked" is the piece we're showing. The pictures I took aren't the greatest, as it was a serious working up to the last moment to make the deadline.

  

We are expecting a full on stampede from all the rabid Daryl Hannah/Splash fans.

Other title options were "Hooker" "Mounting Hannah" and "Land Ho." If ya buy it, you can pick the name.

EAST Austin Studio Tour 2013 is here!

It's the best art tour ever - everybody knows EAST is where it's at to see more art than you can imagine - and more importantly, creatively badass art. It's been a real push to the end to get our show ready to go  - along with some older pieces (or shall we say "classic" pieces) we will be throwing down some new pieces. Love to tell ya more, but we're straight worn out. Here's a look at a few of the new ...

Art Shows People, We Have Art Shows

We are so hyped about all of our art shows coming up - because it means we get to make new art!!! 

And we've gone way bigger this time around. 

"Aloha," our biggest, boldest aquarium yet.

And "Barbarella High," she's massive and straight throwback. It's in the details.

"1967," endless cutting, but worth it.

"Atomic Party." What else is there to say. She's got a rainbow butt ...

These pieces are currently showing at Magnolia Cafe on South Congress.
October: we will be part of the Handmade Austin Women show on the 19th/20th as well as art displayed at the new Georgetown Art Center.
Then November, it's EAST time.
We haven't had this many shows lined up, ever.
