The Perfect House Number

Couldn't stop thinking of this band the whole time I was working on this plaque. I know I'd live at 808.
Used to jam 808 State back in the day .....

EAST Austin Studio Tour 2012 Wrap-up

Just as I expected, EAST delivered tons upon tons of art this year. The tour was massive and great and we were worn out souls by the time it was done. Damn, Austin has some unbelievable artists.
Jessica Wagner had so many wonderful pieces. I encourage you to check out her website. Such detailed visual impact and mental stimulation.
Anis Mojgani. Oh man ... his pieces were amazing. Swear I wanted everything. Not to mention he's a poet too.
This Angry Elephant was mad, huge, and awesome. Another great piece by Manik Nakra. This man paints with purpose and power.
This is the Wardenclyffe Gallery -- just as much art goin' on the outside as the inside!
The UP Collective had tons of artists.
Michelle John (at UP). This piece is killer in person.
Taylor Browning, also at UP. The kitsch factor on this painting is so good.
Amazing big ol' piece at Obsolete Industries. Toni Ardizzone. His collection of work is the shit.
Arts and Recreation. Holy heck this spot was so cool. Their pieces (yes that is a wall) are collaborative works on wood.
Another piece from Arts and Recreation. See what I'm saying? Kills.
Andrew Keul (and I believe another artist). One of my fav spots on the tour. They had so much good art everywhere and the best vibe. Could have hung all day.
Squid Ink Kollective, I love thee! Always something rad going.

Red Bluff Rodeo at The Barn was a culmination of tons of artists, all in, yup, a barn.
Thoughtbarn at the Barn. I want that patch!
Jeffrey Swanson. One of my most fav Austin artists. I already own two of his pieces and constantly crave another.

A few other spots/artists that were amazing but I didn't grab pics of are Jaelah Kuehmichel, Super! Alright!, and Nick Schnitzer.

It's a done deal for another killer year ... drinks are gone, art has been bought, and art has been sold (mad thanks to all who came out to see our art).
Until next year ... See ya'll later.

Hustle Harda for EAST 2012

It's here! The art show of the year -- EAST Austin Studio Tour. Excited to be showing this year & we're gonna Hustle Harda to produce a killer show. The ladies at MAKEatx have graciously allowed us to be a guest of their studio at the Pump Project Satellite. We are #95E on the tour & in the EAST catalog. Look us up and stop by for tons of our art (plus all the other artists that will be on display). We will definitely be hanging throughout the show. EAST is one of our favorite times of the (art) year. Can not wait.

To Quote Ice Cube ...

"Today was a good day."

It was so nice working on plaques today.
For a change, there was a cool breeze blowing (if you live in Texas you know what I mean), no mosquitoes making me crazy .... and distant sounds of thunder. I don't really get excited about thunder anymore, because usually thunder never brings the rain in Austin these days. But then, there were sprinkles.
Followed by a mass of dark clouds ...

that opened up and let it rip like we haven't seen in a long time.
I know the whole city is in a better mood today.

"I got to say, it was a good day."

Tim Kerr Will Not Be Televised

Who knew going to a skate shop (Apparition Skate) on a Friday night would land me with such a rad art score!? If you like art or music, than certainly you know about Tim Kerr. There I was sipping a beer, corralling our kids while my husband piddled around looking at skateboards and dudes' skating and the like, when there appeared Tim Kerr himself along side such a great piece of art!
Yeah, that moment pretty much sealed the deal. The art was killer, and Tim Kerr was more than gracious to talk about the piece. So hyped to own such an amazing piece with such amazing subject matter. I, of course, immediately framed out the art (painted on cardboard) with a plexiglas frame.

And since it's in my kitchen,
the plexiglas will protect it from all the grease slinging that goes down (let's just say our Fry Daddy works overtime).

Oh the places our address plaques go...

We have clients as psyched as us about our plaques...and send us pictures to prove it!
Love it on a mail box.
 The custom numbers/letters are hawt.
We love it when people aren't afraid of color and we can add that sparkle.

Big, Fat & Sexy Down South

Ho-ly smokes. Just look at this beast.
One crazy-hot big chunk of plexiglas. Seriously ridiculous with it's thickness (twice our normal size).
The letters complete the package with all kinds of curves.

Sorry to gush, but we love this thing. So big, fat & good!

Cricket Season

Seriously, my yoga studio is full of crickets and they're invading my house too.
Luckily, this amazing cricket light I got from Traci Hutson is in no way, shape, or form kin to the funky crickets invading Austin. Actually, I saw this number at Blue Genie last year and finally had a little extra cash to spend, so there you go.
The detail is awesome. I have it in my shelf, but it looks pretty amazing mounted on the wall too.

Ladies of Collage

Man oh man have we been all kinds of busy putting together some new collage work. Our latest show is at Hyde Park Grill down south. We have tons of pieces lookin' all fabulous and maybe a little racy. OK yeah, even raunchy. Because ... that's how we role.  The latest pieces have a universal theme of hot ladies, being well -- hot.
We can not get enough of her bubbles.
 Goldie and her squid patrol.
Trust me ... she's a real stunner.
Then there's the "Queen of the Insects." In charge.
Triangular sex appeal. She's got that.
And oohhhh the Huntress. She don't play. Me-oooow.
"Mushroom Jungle." Never trust a lady in praying mantis form.
And seriously ........ never. Ever. Trust a wolf.
Steal your lady every time.

Stop by Hyde Park Grill (south location) for a close up of all these pieces and a lot more. A solid mix of new pieces and classics.

Kickin' It

One day my hubby, straight outta the blue, got all man-crafty and decided to build a mini deck. See it there? Admisdt the flower bed? Perfect for a family hang or more importantly, grown-up booze central. Secretive ... and swanky huh?! Suspended right in the midst of our flower bed. The kids helped with the construction ...
and the signage. Then we added a couple of chairs, hanging plants & bam ... the joint is poppin.' Well, at least the kids think so! My main man did a killer job. "The Deck" is our new evening destination. Cue music: "Night Boat to Cairo."
